CITIZENS

Independence Day coming up!

Ladonia now has more than 2.400 citizens. Our country has existed one year on the 2nd of June. Independance Day is celebrated on the 8th of June as this day is the Sunday. As Ladonians don't like to miss the exact number, we have taken the decision to exchange 8th of June to 2nd, and vice versa.
More than 2.400 citizens in one year means that on average 6-7 new citizens have arrived every day during the year. None has left Ladonia and none is dead. May it continue to prosper!

VIBRATING POLITICS

PRESIDENT FERNANDO QUESTIONED, DISCONTENT AMONG MINISTERS
Eonatic spirit under survey

President Fernando wasn't heard of during three weeks. This created a rather harsh debate among our ministers. In the lead of this debate was to be found Horatius, minister of sophistry. Horatius published his critical text "Fernando - a man of visions" on Ladonia Board, critizising the president for lack of activity and eonatic spirit. Here are some extracts of the discussions:
"I do not think it premature to ask: How has our president so far demonstrated his dynamic, active and creative nature? Well, one cannot accuse him for writing too many letters. At least not letters to ministers. I have counted five. (And then I included a forwarding from Porto Claro which Fernando didn't write, so really it should be four.) So the "active" part hasn't been demonstrated, even hinted at. Fernando may be very active in his job as journalist, or at the beach, or in the kitchen, but he hasn't been active *in Ladonia* (or Cyber-Ladonia, if you wish).

Yes, but volume isn't everything, you say. Look at the quality, the dynamic creativity. Well, let's see what we can find. The only thing I can find is the Presidential Decrees, and I'm not very impressed by these. To my ears the tone is strangely un-Ladonian. (With "Ladonian" I here mean the tone set by Ladonia's founder, Lars Vilks.)
Pataphysical? Pantagruelistic? No. Artistic? Not really. Humorous? No. Weird?? No, no! (It's almost Swedish...)"

"Please, dear minister of sophistry. Do not sophistricate things. If someone has become a minister of Ladonia and still after a few years are lojal, happy, active and worth listening to they probably have these qualities that we are suggesting.

That's an interesting, novel way of finding out whether somebody is qualified or not. IT WILL SHOW AFTER SOME YEARS. Not even the Swedes are using such a stupid logic.

- How's that tomato? It looks rotten...
- Eat it and IT WILL SHOW.

- Is that a good car?
- I don't know. Why don't you buy it?

- Is he a qualified astronaut?
- Havent got a clue. Send him up and we'll see!

This is simply laziness. Or should I call it "not sophistricating things" (Ladonian newspeak)?"

Quite a lot of ministers entered the discussion and suggestion were made on putting the president in the Glacier or announcing a new election.

PRESIDENTIAL COMEBACK AND THE STUNNING "WAAAAL"
"Is it a bird? Is it an airplane?
No, it's the president!"

President Fernando came back uttering this "A Word" which has been interpreted by at least a dozen of the ministers and ambassadors. Ladonians are welcome to make contributions:

And it is of course "Waaaal" that is in the center of all interest. Is it Moby Dick, a new election, the holy Waaaal or what? The editorial board at Herald means that the president have been extremely creative, making it possible to communicate intensely with all Ladonians with this utterance.
He has actually kept the country busy for several days. Probably Mr President Fernando wants to show his critics that he is able to stand up for his election slogan: "Fernando - a man of visions." It might be a good idea to make the 22nd of May "THE WAAAAL DAY"
Anyway, our president has given honour to Ladonia with his work in Brazil, the story told by the minister of extraordinary affairs in South America, Umberto Saccomandi:
