CONSTANT BATTLE |
|
|
As been reported in the last issue of the Herald, the long battle with the landowner is continuing. The landowner, represented by chairman and count Ehrensvärd, is now concentrating all efforts to remove Omfalos as the big pieces Nimis and Arx no longer can be removed. Omfalos, around 1,60 meter high, made of concrete, sold to the swedish artist Ernst Billgren, is now in the hands of the enforcement officers. Decision will be given in the beginning of September. That decision will not be the last word in the matter. The serial story will go on, like it has for 19 years.
This war is of course very good for the tourist season. War is good news as news, and in Ladonia we prefer tourist wars to ordinary.

THE JAZZ MINISTER CONCERT |
|
|
On the 12th of August Jazz minister Margareta Granvik arranged the yearly concert in Ladonia. The concert was almost to be cancelled due to heavy rain, but one hour before it started the rain stopped and the circumstances became good out in Ladonia open air. A large audience had come to the performance. At this occasion Mattis Olsson, playing drums and flute, was appointed minister of poetry. The Jazz and Blues Ladies were singing, Teater Inkompetent together with Johannes Lood sang blues with megaphone. Exotic feature was Maja Kadanik with indian dance.
In his speech the state secretary Lars Vilks underlined the importance of the concert as a mean to influence the coming verdict concerning Omfalos. He was convinced the the poetic force of the concert was an imortant contribution to the outcome of the matter. A bridal couple, married the same day, was present. The state secretary made it clear that the marriage was not to be accepted in Ladonia, as the bride groom had not been through the test. The groom immediately performaned it by climbing up in Wotans tower, shaking it until the bell on the front began to toll.

A MEDITATION ON TAXES |
|
|
From the US Bob Honey has written these poetic words on taxes:
PENDING (COUNT)
Contribution: taxes come; taxes don't go
they smother me like a heavy snow
my governments: they make me pay
you'd think just once they would say,
"we appreciate the work you do"
instead they kick me with a metaphorical shoe
president bush on my wallet is a strain
but my adoptive country taxes my brain

THE HEAT IN THE HIGHLAND |
|
|
A weather report from minister James Hartman:
A Heat wave hits Hard in Highland, Indiana. The grass is brown and the temperature is amazingly high. It was 42C on July 22nd. Here I am in the blazing sun. We get little lake effect rains that last 20 minutes the past 3 days. The land is cracking in some places and the air is quite humid. We got a break today but weather forecasters say its going to be
even hotter yet in 2 days. What a contrast to last December's record snow fall!!!
- No doubt the climat in Ladonia is more reasonable. This year the water has been very suitable for swimming, we have had up to 22 degrees.

MINISTER HARTMAN AND HIS SYMBOL |
|
|
Minister Hartman has the rank of marquis. The Marquis is historically the one to defend the border of a country. This Marquis has been successfull in keeping Hartamburg, a landscape on the west border of Ladonia. Like a lion.

SQUIRE |
|
|
The Armorial helper is known in English as a Squire--a title currently used in Britain for gentlemen; it usually follows a person's name, e.g. John Smith, Esquire. I'm not sure tehre's a female equivalent. I will have to speak with Olivia about her title: she tends to be very particular.
These words by Baron Ken Krauss; also a good idea for a nobility if they feel the need for a squire. Olivia is his dog.

THERE IS NO TRUTH |
|
|
Our citizen Jakob Aldén has sent this important statement:
There Is No Truth.
We are of course very glad to know this, but is it true? As the sentence says there is no such thing as the truth, obviously what the words are telling us is not true. Could we then say that Mr Aldén in a very advanced way are trying to tell us that there after all is a truth?

A POEM |
|
|
This poem has been sent to Ladonia by Johanna Hansdotter Sundberg (it has been translated into English and that procedure might have caused some damage).
ANXIETY
Trembling anxeity, quivering expectation
I live by dreams of air and veils.
Fear to see you, longing to meet you.
I want you near. Want to escape.
Want to stay
How can I regret you
When you own my world?
How can I hope
When you belong to another?

AT THE END OF THE DAY
A word from our Minister of Health |
|
|
Ladonian Creation Myth.
Somehow, our branch of the universe is expressed in and through us. This would make little sense without an eternity dimension. The universe has existed a very long time before Ladonians as well as Man in general arrived on the scene. But really, even with contemporary man, his dream-field, the good old collective unconscious, does everything while man just follows, like all animal species have been doing long before him. Nevertheless, man has been endowed with something denied animals and earliest man with the decisive rise of Cro Magnon humans over 30 millenniums ago, cave paintings entered our world. We have recently found one in Eastern Ladonia, like all earliest Pieces of Art, representing woman as source of life. We have been endowed with the gift of tapping into creativity. And with creativity the possibility of personal selves arise. They are assembled from deeper emotional energy the vehicle of creativity and every one unique. We must not confuse true creativity with resourcefulness, which is the usual way this deep mystery is described and interpreted, even in fairly learned books. Here is the remote point in the universe where the deeper energies, always present in eternity, become available in time. But at a remoter point still, 20 millenniums from now in the future, Homo Ladoniensis, to created by the Ministry of Health in Ladonia for transforming our world to the better after the Great Pole Star Feast is planned to appear - he is still abiding his time in eternity.
