Minister of Finance Mike Arman

Filed under: The Ministers — Lars Vilks @ 2:47 pm

Minister of Finance Mike Arman has come up with these suggestions for tax in Ladonia:

Taxes shall be levied on:

Driving slowly in the fast lane,

Advertising telephone calls and faxes (junk calls and junk faxes),

Postage to quadruple for advertising material,

Tax on spam, ten thousand Oertugs per spam e-mail, not paying the tax
will be a capital offense,

Tax on frowns,

Tax on ugly clothing worn by attractive people,

Tax on bad haircuts,

Tax on cigarettes (a BIG tax),

Bigger tax on cigars (a HUGE tax),

Tax on Sylvester Stallone movies (all),

Tax on wearing pants that show “plumber’s crack” (guys only),

Tax on long skirts (unless it is cold outside),

Tax on cheap beer,

Tax on polyester,

Tax on bad hairpieces,

The Minister has already withdrawn the tax for long skirts after these remarks from Minister Taru:

A thoughtful idea I support, apart for one part: tax on long skirts. My reasons are twofold:
1. Often it is sexier what you can not see but what you are made to imagine.
2. Another reason is practical (and personally experienced): Women who wear a skirt usually wears it for the whole day, and even if a short skirt would be ok at noon, it is usually too cold in evenings. (I don’t mind men wearing skirts too, but usually I recommend them to wear long ones from the beginning.) Short skirt is unpleasant sometimes when it is hot too, like when sitting on the fake leather seats or when walking in the nature (really Mike: think of a pair of thighs with all bruises and scratches from bushes, mosquito bites etc., I think this was not what you were thinking of).
Personally I only wear long skirts.

And Minister of Finance withdrew:

I bow to the personal experience of Taru, who does wear skirts, and is
thus qualified to comment on the practicality (or lack of same)
regarding short skirts and long skirts.

Having *NO* personal experience in wearing skirts, either long or short,
I recognize that the tax proposal was based entirely on three things -
1) the gender-based perspective of the Minister of Finance, 2) the
location of the Ministry of Finance, in Florida, where it never gets
“cold” (whatever that is) so long skirts are not a necessity, and 3)
again, the lack of any personal experience in the wearing of the
abovementioned garments.

This line item (tax on long skirts) is hereby permanently deleted from
the list of proposed taxes, and the Ministry of Finance wishes to extend
an official thank you for the valuable input on the subject.

There will be no tax on skirts either long nor short

This week: Traffic Control

Filed under: General information — Lars Vilks @ 2:26 pm

When visiting Ladonia this week, please observer that there will be traffic control, supervising all vehicles as will as the speed of pedestrians. No left or right turns are allowed. Behind most bushes and trees they might step forward our traffic wardens. They can easily be recognized by the special Ladonia Police Badge:

Ladonia not attacked

Filed under: Breaking News — Lars Vilks @ 1:32 pm

Ladonia is since several years at war with the US. We strongly suspect them for having weapons of mass destruction. One can wonder why the US has not been striking against Ladonia. We will today show you why. They never found it as our scientists have constructed a camouflage for the see on the north part of Ladonia. Also the forests are camouflaged with a special “blurness”.

Minister Taru

Filed under: culture, Ministry stuff — Lars Vilks @ 8:24 pm

Minister Taru had a dream and performed an exhibition:

“In the dream I was going to see a Ladonian art exhibition on an island in somewhere in the Arctic Sea, it could have been Spitsbergen belonging to Norway or Novaya Zemlya belonging to Russia, but most probably an imaginary place somewhere in between. In the beginning I met Lars and another Ladonian artist I didn’t know before. He was definitely Nordic, looked like a Norwegian or a Dane (all Swedish Cabinet members surely recognize the style: take anyone from the Danish football team, add 15 years and make him wear a shabby woollen pullover), but we talked in English, so that I did not really hear where he was from. First he took me to see his artworks in one basement. It was made of small statuettes, it was hilariously funny, and it had a point which I found brilliant but had totally forgotten by the time I woke up.
But even better was the town which was fascinating. The style was 20th century European architecture, mostly early functionalism, white and concrete, but still with traditional city plan with long, somewhat curvy streets, or rather channels, because the whole city was built on water, so that we moved around on boats on these narrow streets and through corridors to courtyards, still covered with water. Still, there seemed to be not much floods or waves, since people lived on the ground level as well. I remember having thought how this town must be beautiful in winter too, when all channels are covered with ice and snow.
Next I went alone to Lars’ exhibition and found two miniature Russian kids outside (the scale of statuettes must have stucked in my mind, I seldom mix sizes in my dreams). This museum located on some kind of island, so there was some rocky land outside, wher the kids were playing. They asked me to take them to see the exhibition and so I raised them to my hand and took them inside. Inside was totally white (although there may have been something on the back wall of the L-shaped room, otherwise walls were bare). Lars had changed the perspective of the room with white plastic structures so that there was no angle or corner visible on the ground level, but everything was curved somehow. These structures of hard plastic reached me to waist-breast level, but for the miniature Russian kids they were huge and they enjoyed sliding down the structures when I placed them on the top. Inside was Lars, preparing for a coal grill to grill sausages, which was to be a part of his exhibition.”

Yes, the state secretary is very happy to have three visitors. I have made a small drawing of the event:

As you can see, the white room, the playing children, the grill man and minister Taru entering.

Cars in Ladonia

Filed under: Ministry stuff — Lars Vilks @ 2:13 pm

The first car has arrived to Ladonia. We think it is wise to begin with cars before we take any decisions on roads. Thus we have very few traffic accidents. The Bentley is owned by Minister and Prince James Hartman who just has begun to drive around in his Hartmanburg.
